Flicker books 1-2-3 are work in progress, of moving images that are projected on set design/ installations. The work has evolved from the many relationships I have with people in Art Therapy who inspire my practise. The idea is for the viewer to participate in the experience of sitting through the intense 'time dilation' and sense the force of darkness in the time when waiting for the latent lightness of recovery.
1 Lullaby, is looking at the practise of tailoring as a metaphor to early infant years where patterns of behaviour is formed. My clinical work with children in care has often informed me how difficult a negative pattern can be to change. I have therefore experimented with dressmaking patterns transferred onto wood rather than fabric to portray how hard it is,.. like wood. The installation creates a moving image of the projection, which creates an illusion of change.
2 Timedilation the door as a portal for breaking through to new dimensions. Internal projections are being externalised in a real physical space.Further experimentation with dark and light and shades in between will continue.
3 Timedilation, continues exploring with the moving image projection and the attachment to new environments. In this projection the light appear to melt the image and carry it through the portal. The fusion of the internal projection on the external physical space intend to narrate an emotive light transformation that can be internalised by the viewer.
